Campers will increase their health knowledge and awareness of civic issues, while also participating in sports and fitness activities. Campers will begin practicing these healthy behaviors at camp by eating nutritiously, participating in daily sports and morning exercises, boosting one another's self-esteem, resisting peer pressure, and practicing proper hygiene, among other behaviors.
SELF Camp helps the campers develop the leadership skills necessary to be peer educators in their home communities. They will participate in a women’s leadership session to exemplify what Georgian female leaders look like and how they rose to success in their specific fields. SELF Camp will develop the counselors and junior counselors' level of civic engagement, leadership skills, and peer education skills. Counselors and junior counselors will foster their leadership skills by acting as role models for the campers, being in charge of a small group of 6-7 campers 24/7, and co-facilitating sessions and activities. In an effort to be as inclusive as possible, the camp will cover all travel and lodging expenses of campers.
